Every spring, we host a celebration luncheon to thank registered nurses and licensed practical nurse preceptors who have been selected for the Excellence in Preceptorship Award.
This award recognizes nurses who exhibit exceptional abilities as a preceptor to nurses and students, and who create a positive, encouraging, and respectful learning environment. Successful recipients act as a role model, create planned and purposeful learning experiences, provide feedback for ongoing evaluation, and support socialization of the preceptee into the new role and environment.
The award is open to registered nurses and licensed practical nurses in Nova Scotia who have completed the Nova Scotia Provincial Preceptor Program (Foundational Workshop) and who have been an active preceptor within the last three years.
There are 10 awards for the NS Health Authority & the IWK. Finalists and their nominators are honoured at the luncheon. All nominees will receive a letter of recognition.
